Michael Makowski, Inc. also carries the area's best topsoil. Our soil is well-developed, Pennsylvania farm soil from our surrounding area. It is not fill dirt mixed with mushroom soil. The following is quoted from the Worldbook Encyclopedia:

"Minerals supply nutrients to green plants. Particles called sands, silts, and clays make up most of the mineral content of soils. Clays consist of illite, kaolin, micas, vermiculite, and other minerals. Trace amounts of many minerals add nutrients, including calcium, phosphorus, and potassium to the soil. Most soils are called mineral soils because more than 80% of their soil particles are minerals."

1/2" Screened Topsoil
“(Formerly known as Shredded) Pure topsoil screened through a ˝” screen. “Our premium topsoil.” Finely shredded…no material larger than ˝”. Recommended for jobs requiring 2” or less of material

Unscreened Topsoil
Pure topsoil that is not screened. May contain stones, roots, clumps, etc. Recommended for jobs requiring more than 3” of material in depth.

Fill Dirt
Subsoil which may contain rocks, roots, and clay...no trash!

Screened Fill Dirt
No material larger than 1”.

Leaf compost
Completely organic, fully decomposed soil conditioner that has a concentrated supply of humus and plant nutrients.

Screened Mushroom Soil
Screened through our 1/2" screener and aged at least 1 year.
